The Dinosaur Mummy. 9.00pm. Channel 4. One of the most momentous discoveries in palaeontology was made in 2003 when a 67-million-year-old dinosaur mummy was unearthed in the spectacular badlands of North Dakota. Only a few mummified dinosaurs have ever been found and none with as much potential to revolutionise our knowledge of dinosaurs. The body of this dinosaur, named Dakota, was so well preserved that it brought researchers as close as they had come to an actual dinosaur. It seemed they had not only found remains of bones and skin, but that this dinosaur in fact had much of its skin, tendons, ligaments and possibly bodily organs preserved inside. |

Dispatches: The Truth About Beauty Creams. 8.00pm. Channel 4. Over in the UK, they spend an estimated half a billion pounds every year on face creams that claim to make women - and men - look younger. The marketing for these creams often features scientific, hi-tech sounding ingredients, yet unlike drug companies the beauty industry does not have to publish clinical trials showing whether these creams are effective. Dispatches investigates the promises made by some of the best-selling anti-aging creams - putting the claims made on packaging, adverts and at beauty counters to the test - under the direction of a dermatologist and plastic surgeon. |
